For those of you interested in portrait photography, why not come down to Bondi Beach and try your luck in Miss Bondi 2008 comp!

Miss Bondi heats are on Sun 30 Nov & Sun 7 Dec, with the final on Sun 14 Dec, 2-5pm.

On any hot Sydney weekend in summer, Bondi is alive with tanned, athletic bodies, string bikinis and slicked- back salty hair. And lots and lots of men checking out chicks – a signature, understandably, of the annual Miss Bondi competition. But this is a feature of the event that the organisers want to tone down. "In past years, Miss Bondi has been more a bikini competition and too male dominated and our aim is to make it a little more female friendly," says Kimberley Stewart from Popcorn Events. "I have looked at some of the past year's photographs and you see a lot of guys with no shirts on drinking beer. We're trying to include those people, but we want to have females involved as well, in front row seats, and make them feel a lot more comfortable."

Latest-release cameras, photographic training and exclusive giveaways are just a taste of what’s in store at the inaugural Georges Camera Expo taking place Friday 14 – Saturday 15 November 2008 at Georges Cameras, 56-58 York Street Sydney.

An impressive line-up of the world’s leading camera suppliers including Canon, Nikon, Sony, Panasonic, Pentax, Fuji, Leica, Tamron and Sigma will take part in the in-store exhibition that will offer both professional and aspiring photographers Expo-exclusive camera specials and product goody bags, as well the opportunity for customers to see first-hand the latest cameras and accessories just in time for Christmas.

Something to check out, and is surely a great photographic opportunity!

This year the Glebe Street Fair entertainment has a Circus theme, with bands and roving street performers, a baby animal farm in Foley Park for the kids, and rides for littlies along the street.

Look for the Arguers’ stage. Do you think you are a persuasive orator, a born debator, or someone who just loves an argument ... then this is the spot for you to try out your skills. Or are you a poet or writer? Then look for the Poets’ Corner, and share your work with the passing crowds.

Even the doggies will be catered for with Glebe Dogs Day Out. A Doggie Olympics will held at the Fair. Dogs and their owners will be able to enrol in a series of athletic challenges or, for the more style-oriented pooches, there will be ‘Doggie Fashionista’ events to enter.

Why not turn those dormant photos in your collection into prize winners, or give yourself that extra inspiration to produce that perfect shot!

Meeting at 5:30am SHARP on Friday 17th of October at the McDonalds across the street from Bondi Beach. If you're late, give one us a ring (shoot us off an email if you don't have our contact number), as the rest will be setting up most likely on the southern end of the beach.
Photoclub will head down to Bondi Beach for the annual Sculptures by the Sea event, for a sunrise shoot. Great chance to have a go at landscape/scenery shots with the presence of intriguing scultures and works of art!

There will be a theme for the day, in three categories:
- Man Vs Sculpture
- Golden
- Dynamic

Best photos in each categories will earn you points. Most points accumulated at the end of the year (which is coming up very soon) will be receiving a prize! So keep this in mind when shooting!

After the shoot, we'll be having breakfast at one of the Cafe's in bondi, and should wrap up by 9:00am.
If you can't make the shoot, not to fear, we'll also be gathering for lunch at uni at 12PM to show off a couple of pics from the morning shoot. =D
Don't forget to bring your tripod, camera accessories, filters and something warm.
